Grand Opening!

I’m sorry that this post comes late, but HAPPY 2012 everyone!!!!! This month has come and going so fast I can barely breathe. Just the other day, I realized I haven’t really posted anything on my blog to ring in the new year!!!! I have some fantastic news to share I can hardly contain it! 😉

I’ve been really fortunate to have met some cool people since I arrived in Austin. Surprisingly, I keep meeting fabulous women that I can see us being friends for a very long time. Recently, I came across a really cool woman named, Kerry Gray. I met her when I joined the women of Heartsong few months ago. It’s an all women’s choir that I was invited to join by Jalen’s music teacher, Michelle Jamail. And that is where we met. Once we realized that we were both photographers, we decided to meet up for lunch and talk about what else?! Photography!

We shared a lot during our lunch meeting and we hit it off. It was if we have been friends for a very long time. What I noticed about Kerry was that, she too, like I was an open book about pretty much everything. She came across to me as a woman with integrity, honesty, sincerity, charismatic, and really funny too!!!! She had me laughing non-stop. Then she talked about Bump Club Austin. I had never heard of this fabulous organization and I was intrigued. She was quick to say, “I’ll introduce to Jen. She’s great! You’re going to love her!” And that was that. She introduced us via email last week and our meeting was set for today.

I went to this meeting feeling a little nervous, but excited. I have been wanting to find a way to network with women who are expecting in order to really start my L&D photography business. Since I started my business a few years ago, I have never spent a dime on advertising. I decided early on that I really wanted to find my clients by referrals. That to me, is the best way to advertise – word of mouth. I believed that God had a plan and this meeting was definitely his way of letting me know things were going to change a lot for 2012.

Kerry was nice enough to meet us for a short time before she had to leave to go pick up her girls. Jen brought her 10 month old daughter, Natalie who stole my heart. Like Jalen, she was all smiles. After getting to know Jen and Natalie for a few hours, I had no doubt that our partnership will be a great one. It was nice knowing that we had a lot in common about how we are both raising our kids. Listening to Jen talk about her pregnancy, birth story and how Natalie has been growing every day since she arrived (she was born 5 days before jalen), was a bittersweet way of ending our meeting. It was suppose to be a business meeting, but I walked away feeling as if I met another cool girlfriend who happens to be very passionate and successful at what she does best. I found it very refreshing knowing that I’m about to go into this new venture with someone that I can relate and learn from who is so willing to share her wealth of knowledge. She wants nothing, but the best when it comes to providing service for all the mothers in her club. That kind of enthusiasm and passion does not go unnoticed. So as soon as I can put together some information for Jen, I will be the newest vendor for the Bump Club Austin specializing in L&D and Boudoir photography!!

I came home feeling ecstatic! I had to share the good news on Facebook status, of course, but I wanted to take this time to write about how grateful I am to have met all these wonderful women that I have become to know. Life has never been so good to me.

THANK YOU Michelle to inviting me to join Heartsong Women’s Choir. I come home every Monday after practice feeling rejuvenated.
THANK YOU Kerry for being so kind and being a wonderful friend to me. Your friendship is priceless.
THANK YOU Jen for giving me the opportunity to work with Bump Club Austin. I cannot wait to be part of this wonderful organization.

GIVE THANKS!
