Sarah contacted me a while ago during my sabbatical, asking if I would photograph her family during her summer vacation in Austin. They would arrive during Memorial Day weekend and I figured it would be the perfect time for me to come out of my hiatus to ease back into work after not shooting for some time. We instantly hit it off during our phone conversation and she explained that every year her whole family takes a summer vacation, choosing a different city to explore. They were coming to our city. Being around them for few hours recharged my creative, emotional battery and I was so glad they were the first family that I spent time shooting. Perhaps they have it right. The secret to long, lasting happiness might lie in vacationing with your family every year… that’s if you can stand to vacation with them. LOL 😉
I think it’s probably not ideal for everyone, but the idea of it all was and is, really sweet… THANKS Ken (Sarah’s dad) and Sarah for again for hiring me to capture these precious moments for your family!
