Last week I attended a movie screening for “Freedom For Birth” at GetBabied’s office. I have been anticipating to see this movie ever since I found out about it through Karli Hetherington! She’s a DONA trained labor doula in Austin. This movie was eye-opening in every possible way. It was nice to stay afterwards to discuss about the movie which provided us an opportunity to share our thoughts. This night also gave me the opportunity to meet Ame Gadsby Shilington, the Founder/Managing Partner/Doula for GetBabied. She wears many hats in her role at GetBabied and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting her. I didn’t know much about GetBabied, but after getting to know Ame and meeting some of her colleagues, and the work that they do for our community, I was compelled to offer my photography services for one family that could not afford it.
