Earlier this year, I was introduced to GALS (Giving Austin Labor Support) by my doula, Kristen Downer. Since then a lot has happened in my efforts to network before I go on my sabbatical for few months. Not too long ago, I met Jessica Atkins and I asked if I could be part of this wonderful organization somehow by offering my photography services. Jessica mentioned that they needed a photographer, that they needed some photos for their website and marketing materials. So without any hesitation, I offered my services and this was my first pro-bono birth session for them.

Stephanie Spitzer-Hanks was the doula on-call when Malinda went into labor. Dr. Cynthia Mingea and the nursing staff of St. David’s hospital were so nurturing and supportive. Mila Renae Salas was born on 11/14th at 6:10pm weighing at 7lbs., 6oz., 19 3/4inches. This is her story.
